Who Pays the Residential Care Fees

Here’s how you can pay your residential care fees:

Full RAD Payer

If the Means Tested Amount (MTA) is more than the maximum accommodation supplement which is $66.94 (from 20 September 2023 to 31 December 2023). 

Quick Rule: Assets = $197,735.20*

Accommodation

Resident pays full cost (RAD/DAP).

Care

Cost shared between government (ACFI subsidies) & resident (basic fee + MTF + additional services).

Low-Means (Supported)

Accommodation

Costs shared between government (subsidy) & resident (RAC/DAC). 

Care

Resident pays only basic fee (plus additional services) and government pays the rest (full ACFI subsidies).

*The residential care fee is based on just assets, but MTA is subject to a combination of income and assets.
